Match Report: Bamber Bridge 3-0 Matlock Town

Three goals, all in the second half, and all three would be from different scorers. Ewan Bange, Jack Baxter and Patrick Jarrett rounded off a top performance from Jamie Milligan's side.

The visitors started the brightest inside the opening exchange. A three-on-one situation inside 11 minutes forced Adam Dodd into some smart defending to deny an almost certain goal.

Josh Ayres played the ball across to Montel Gibson, and due to the hold-up play from Dodd, Brig was able to get the bodies back and make the angle acute for the forward, whose effort was comfortable for Gibson.

Gibson would have another opportunity just a minute later. Noel Williams played the ball across to the number nine but was once again unable to take advantage.

Bamber Bridge would get their first sight at goal just after 20 minutes. Jack Baxter played in Robbie Clearly down the right channel, and the winger cut inside onto his left, striking the ball well wide.

That would be it for the first half, with both teams being limited to any real-cut chances.

As for the second half, Milligan's men came flying out of the traps.

Potts would drive down the right-hand side before delivering a perfect cross onto the head of Bange, who guided it into the corner.

Brig would not stop there. Brig's number nine rattled the post just on the hour mark after some fine work by Jarret, who played Bange through before the striker was denied a brace by Jason Alexander in goal.

Thirteen minutes from the 90, Jack Baxter extended Brig's advantage by two.

Potts got his second assist of the night after playing a delightful through ball to Baxter, who took it around Alexander and calmly slotted it home.

After a fine performance down the right-hand side, Cleary was rightfully rewarded with a deserved goal following his performance.

Following a fantastic run from Patrick Jarrett as he took it past Milambo, the midfielder ran across into the box and laid it off beautifully for a tap-in for Cleary.

Bamber Bridge would then win the game and earn three deserved points at home.

As for Matlock, the second half was a disaster, with fans chanting, "Sack the board," and "Your not fit to wear the shirt."

It certainly seems that the Gladiators have a lot of work to do if they are to stay in the Northern Premier Division.
