Ground Review: The Kuflink Stadium

The Kuflink Stadium is home to Ebbsfleet United and is located in Northfleet, Kent.

A train station is located just a few minutes from the ground with fairly regular services to and from London.

Ebbsfleet have endured a brutal season and sit rock bottom of the National League and are close to being mathematically relegated from the division.

Saturday saw them pick up their second league victory of the season as they beat AFC Fylde 1-0.

Attendance

An attendance of 1215 in a stadium that has the capacity to hold almost 5000 is underwhelming.

But taking into consideration that Ebbsfleet had won just one game all season prior to the weekend and the visitors AFC Fylde faced a four and a half hour journey down it isn't an awful turnout.

The ground did feel and look fairly empty, but the crowd were well spread across all sides of the ground.

Atmosphere

Again you have to consider the dire season that the Fleet have endured so far when considering just how good the atmosphere was.

However once the goal went in there was a little bit of a feelgood factor around the ground and the atmosphere did pick up slightly,  but it needed a goal to trigger that.

On the eye

As will be explained in the Class section,  the ground is a mixture of old and new. But in terms of how the stadium looks, I think it is a reflection of the state the club finds itself in.

Amidst the troubles the club faces off the field, the stadium is damaged in parts and run down in others. But all that being said, there is a certain charm to the ground, a proper stadium with an excellently well kept pitch.

Class

The ground consists of one fairly new stand, and three old fashioned stands. There are two tunnels and two sets of benches, with only the newer one’s now in use.

The terracing available in several areas give it a certain classic feel, with a football club at the heart of it.

The white walls around the ground are somewhat unique and provide a different feel to the ground compared to most.

The ‘away’ stand was not quite parallel to the pitch, which again gave it a unique feel but it was slightly odd.

Facilities

Having to pre-order food for half-time is unusual and I am not entirely sure the requirements are in place across all areas in the ground.

The hot-dog was adequate and consisted of a decent sausage and the bread was crispy, but the over 45-minute wait dragged the rating down a fair bit.

The bar available seemed nice and you could tell effort was made to make sure it was a positive experience, but it was small and shoved away in a bit of a corner.

Overall

On the whole it was alright, but ultimately there were too many factors that mean the review reflects a slightly disappointed visit to the Kuflink.

Once you enter the ground, it is quite a nice sight, however the outside was lackluster and disappointing, alongside the facilities and disappointing.
